"Dr. Langlois is a consummate professional, able to get to the root of conflicts very quickly and provide suggestions for methods and approaches that work to resolve even the thorniest issues. As Dean a large proportion of my time was spent dealing with internecine conflicts within several of our mission-critical departments, which were diverting attention from serving students and performing other core functions. For example, in one department, within a couple of months, Dr. Langlois was able to get faculty to set aside their seemingly intractable differences, some of which had persisted for decades, and work together to achieve department goals. Almost two years later, the department continues to function smoothly and collegially, and faculty members still apply principles learned from her. She has my very highest recommendation." Dean.
"Dr. Catherine Langlois served as a consultant for our department to help us overcome barriers and develop a process for departmental and programmatic decision-making. She began by helping us develop "rules for engagement," a consensual process of civility in conversation, effective e-mail exchanges, and grievance procedures. She guided us toward establishing a structured process that facilitated healthy, collegial exchanges that enabled us to make decisions for program curricula as a department. Dr. Langlois' expertise in departmental relationships helped us work through disagreements in a way that fostered respect for differences in opinions while allowing space for growth and healthy discourse. Over the course of just a few weeks, our department members were able to break through what we thought were insurmountable differences, make compromises, and implement decisions. We enjoyed working with Dr. Langlois and will not hesitate to reach out again if need be." Professor and Department Chair
"Working with Dr. Langlois was extremely helpful for our Department. She was able to work in a very fluid way, quickly adapting to and incorporating each new informational element in order to address the complexities latent within each interpersonal issue, which resulted in getting the collective group back on track and working together on central goals. After just a few weeks with Dr. Langlois, communication barriers seemed to be lifted and the group was able to sustain healthy ways of interacting." Professor and Department Chair
Fees for the handling of departmental issues are negotiated on a case by case basis. They depend on Department size, the issues to be addressed and the duration of the intervention. In most cases, the process will involve individual meetings with all faculty members and six one hour and fifteen minute meetings with the full faculty. The latter can be scheduled weekly or grouped in workshop format over two to three days.
Fees for consulting services to ombuds offices can be negotiated as an hourly fee or on a retainer basis.
Information about Universities, Colleges or Departments will be held in complete confidence as are any conversations with individual faculty members.
